Something Has Got To Give

Finally pulling up at my apartment complex on Wilcrest and Harwin after getting out of all of that traffic coming from work, all I wanted to do was get in the shower and go to bed until it was time to do it all again tomorrow. That never happens though. I stopped by the front office to check my mail. I walked through the walkway where the mailboxes were and saw a flyer taped to the wall. Someone was trying to sell a television that they had in their home. That was right up my alley because I needed one. I put the number on the flyer in my phone with thoughts of calling as soon as I got settled in the house. I guess somebody had different plans for me because as soon as I walked into the house and got my babies situated my phone rung. It was from the number I had just put in my phone. How in the world did they know my number and I hadn’t even called yet?

“Hello?” I asked confused. A male voice was on the other line,

“I got a missed call from this number.”

“Nah, you didn’t,” I responded still confused.

“I put your number in my phone but I didn’t call you at all,” I said looking at my call log to make sure I wasn’t tripping.

I didn’t show any outgoing calls on my phone. This was crazy.

“Well on my line I have a missed call from you otherwise I wouldn’t have your number right?” he said sarcastically.

Okay I am not sure who this dude was on the other line but he had me all wrong. I was on the way to curse him out when he asked me,

“Were you wanting to come see the TV we have for sale over here?”

I didn’t respond for a minute still wondering how in the world he was on my line to begin with. “Hello?” I heard him say.

“Oh, yea. Let me know the apartment number and I will get the kids together and come by there,” I responded.

“112,” he responded.

“Alright,” I said and hung up the line.

I really didn’t have any money right now to purchase a TV anyway. I had no idea what I was going to go over there for but I planned on heading over there before the night was over. I headed into the kitchen and warmed up some leftover spaghetti I had made the night before. I wanted to get these kids fed before we left so when they came home it would be bath and bedtime.

About 45 minutes later I found myself walking to apartment 112 with my three babies. I was going to see this TV, let this dude know I didn’t have any money until I got paid again and I still wouldn’t have a lot to give for a TV that I didn’t have now so I really didn’t need it. We finally made our way to the apartment. I knocked on the door and I heard a bunch of kids running around.
